On February 10, 2019, Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate (Level 4 of VQF) and college (Level 5 of VQF) levels in materials, metallurgy, production, and other technical technologies will come into force.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in Garment technology issued together with Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, Garment technology, Level 4 of VQF in Vietnam is a profession that meets human clothing needs with diverse products made from the process of research, design, production, cutting, sewing, finishing, etc., through an organized industrial production system, ensuring product technical standards, meeting requirements for level 4 in the Vietnamese national qualification framework.
Practitioners in Garment Technology can directly hold various positions in enterprises from producing design samples, developing technical documents, sample sewing, production implementation, participating in or managing sewing line stages, and comprehensive quality control to ensure product technical standards. The main tasks of the profession include: Designing production models and organizing production deployment to ensure product standards.
The Garment Technology profession operates in a professional environment with modern machinery and equipment such as electronic sewing machines, industrial interlining machines, modern ironing equipment, design software, pattern making, automatic layout plotting, etc., meeting quality standards and stringent market requirements.
Graduates of Garment Technology, Level 4 of VQF meet the requirements for level 4 in the Vietnamese national qualification framework.
Minimum knowledge volume: 1,645 hours (equivalent to 55 credits).
