On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate (Level 4 of VQF) and college (Level 5 of VQF) levels in health and social service sectors.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in Medical Imaging Equipment Engineering issued together with Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the basic knowledge required for graduates of Medical Imaging Equipment Engineering, Level 4 of VQF in Vietnam is as follows:
- Explain the structural characteristics of diagnostic imaging equipment such as conventional X-ray machines, digital X-ray machines, C-Arm X-ray machines, angiography machines, CT scanners, X-ray film processing machines, X-ray film printers, ultrasound machines;
- Describe the operating principles of the diagnostic imaging equipment;
- Explain the maintenance procedures for diagnostic imaging equipment;
- Describe the methods to repair some faults when there are issues with diagnostic imaging equipment such as: conventional X-ray machines, digital X-ray machines, C-Arm X-ray machines, angiography machines, film processors, film printers, ultrasound machines;
- Present basic knowledge of electrical and electronic subjects such as: electronic components, pulse techniques, digital techniques, circuit techniques, electrical techniques, etc.;
- Identify the structure and usage of measurement devices: multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.; and tools used for electronic and mechanical repairs, etc.;
- Present knowledge about politics, law, national defense and security; be in good health to undertake the required tasks of the profession;
- Describe safety and environmental sanitation regulations in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment;
- Determine the equipment handover procedures and record work logs;
- Identify labor safety standards;
- Present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education according to regulations.
