Vietnam: Basic knowledge and responsibilities required for graduates of Forest resources management, Level 5 of VQF

On February 10, 2019, Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate (Level 4 of VQF) and college (Level 5 of VQF) levels in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary will come into force.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in Forest resources management issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the basic knowledge required for graduates of Forest resources management, Level 5 of in Vietnam are as follows:

- Explain the structure and operation of GPS devices;

- Explain the methods for determining forest area;

- Explain the benefits of forests, and essential legal documents regarding forest management, protection, and development to inform the public;

- Explain the basic contents of forest management tasks; pest and disease prevention for forests; forest fire prevention and control;

- Explain the main contents of the management and conservation of rare and precious flora and fauna species;

- Explain the basic tasks in the development of various types of forests;

- Describe the basic contents of the management and exploitation of forest products;

- Explain the basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, physical education, and information technology as required.

Additionally, the basic level of autonomy and responsibility required for graduates of Forest resources management, Level 5 of in Vietnam are specified as follows:

- Possess good moral qualities and a correct understanding of the profession, maintain a cooperative attitude with colleagues, respect the law and workplace regulations;

- Be honest and highly disciplined, capable of working independently, ready to take on assigned tasks, work with high quality and productivity;

- Take responsibility for one’s work before the agency, enterprises, and the authorities where one is employed;

- Work independently or as part of a team, solve complex tasks in changing work conditions;

- Guide and supervise others in performing specific tasks; take personal and team responsibility;

- Assess the quality of work after completion and the performance of other team members;

- Be proactive, creative, scientific, and careful in work;

- Adapt well to difficult and arduous working environments;

- Always complete regular tasks effectively.
