Vietnam: Are learners allowed to study two teacher training programs at the same time?

According to Article 13 of Circular No. 24/2019/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, learners can study at the same time two teacher training programs, specifically:

- Studying at the same time two teacher training programs is for learners who meet the following conditions and wish to register for a second teacher training program of a teacher training institution or a training association with teacher training institutions so that when they are eligible for graduation, they will be granted two degrees.

- Conditions for studying two teacher training programs at the same time:

+ The learner has an application to study two teacher training programs at the same time;

+ The second teacher training program must be different from the first teacher training program;

+ Having completed the first semester of a teacher training program with a duration of 1.5 (one and a half) to two academic years or having completed the third semester of a teacher training program with a duration of 3 (three) academic years. In which, the cumulative GPA of the modules completed in the first teacher training program by the time of consideration for the second teacher training programs at the same time must be 6.5 points or more;

+ Not during the period of suspension of the teacher training program or disciplined from warning level or higher or being prosecuted for criminal liability.

- Learners who are required to adjust their learning progress or are forced to withdraw from the first teacher training program shall be forced to withdraw from the second teacher training program.

- Learners will only be considered for graduation from the second teacher training program if they meet all conditions for graduation from the first teacher training program.

- The time for learners to complete two teacher training programs is specified in Clause 2 Article 6 of the Regulation promulgated together with Circular No. 24/2019/TT-BGDĐT.

- The head of the teacher training institution shall specify the study of two training programs at the same time.
