Vehicles of 5 Tons or More Are Not Allowed to Load Goods Higher Than 4.2 Meters

This notable content is stipulated in Circular 46/2015/TT-BGTVT regulating weight limits, dimensional limits of roads; circulation of overloaded vehicles, over-dimension vehicles, track-laying vehicles on roads; transportation of super-heavy, super-size goods; limits on loading goods on vehicles when participating in road traffic issued by the Minister of Transport on September 07, 2015.

According to Circular 46/2015/TT-BGTVT stipulating the permissible cargo height for open-top trucks with canopies, the height of the cargo is limited within the boundaries of the vehicle container as per the manufacturer's design or the modified design that has been approved by the competent authority.

For open-top trucks without canopies: cargo loaded exceeding the height of the container (according to the manufacturer's design or the modified design approved by the competent authority) must be securely tied, packed, and wedged to ensure safety when participating in road traffic. The permissible height of cargo shall not exceed the heights specified below, calculated from the highest point of the road surface the vehicle is driving on:

- Vehicles with a cargo load from 5 tons and above (recorded in the Certificate of Technical Safety and Environmental Protection of the vehicle): cargo height shall not exceed 4.2 meters;- Vehicles with a cargo load from 2.5 tons to under 5 tons (recorded in the Certificate of Technical Safety and Environmental Protection of the vehicle): cargo height shall not exceed 3.5 meters;- Vehicles with a cargo load of under 2.5 tons (recorded in the Certificate of Technical Safety and Environmental Protection of the vehicle): cargo height shall not exceed 2.8 meters.

Additionally, the Circular stipulates that specialized vehicles and container trucks: the height of the cargo from the highest point of the road surface the vehicle is driving on shall not exceed 4.35 meters.

Note: In the case of vehicles transporting loose goods, construction materials such as soil, rocks, sand, gravel, coal, ore, or similar goods, the cargo height shall not exceed the height of the container recorded in the Certificate of Technical Safety and Environmental Protection of the vehicle.
