On June 3, 2008, the National Assembly passed the Law on Red Cross Activities 2008 and issued the following regulations regarding the Red Cross emblem in Vietnam:
The Red Cross emblem is a red cross on a white background. |
The Red Cross emblem, besides being used for humanitarian blood donation, healthcare, emergency relief, etc., is also used during armed conflicts.
- During armed conflicts, the Red Cross emblem is a symbol for recognizing and protecting individuals, facilities, vehicles, and objects bearing this emblem.
- In armed conflicts, the Red Cross emblem is used in accordance with the relevant Geneva Conventions and additional protocols to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a party.
Moreover, there is also the Red Crescent emblem. This emblem, used by international organizations and foreign organizations belonging to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement operating in Vietnam, is respected and protected by law.
Law on Red Cross Activities 2008 took effect from January 1, 2009.
