Types of Sustainable Forest Management Certificates

Circular 28/2018/TT-BNNPTNT has been issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, stipulating regulations on sustainable forest management. This document replaces Circular 38/2014/TT-BNNPTNT.

According to the new regulations, the sustainable forest management certificates include the following 03 types:

- Sustainable forest management certificate issued by Vietnam;- Sustainable forest management certificate issued by an international organization;- Sustainable forest management certificate issued in cooperation between Vietnam and the international organization.

Note: The sustainable forest management certificates as specified above are evidence proving the legality of timber origin.

In addition, Circular 28 also stipulates the organizations that evaluate and issue sustainable forest management certificates, including:

- Vietnam sustainable forest management certification and evaluation organization;- International sustainable forest management certification and evaluation organization;- Sustainable forest management certification and evaluation organization in cooperation between Vietnam and international organizations.

Refer to the sustainable forest management criteria set in Circular 28/2018/TT-BNNPTNT effective from January 01, 2019.
