December 6, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision 4159/QD-BGDDT on Training Program and issuance of training certificates for foreigners teaching English at Foreign Language and Information Technology Centers in Vietnam.

Training and granting training certificates to foreigners teaching English in Vietnam

1. Subjects of application

This program is used to train and issue English teaching training certificates to foreigners teaching English at foreign language and information technology centers in Vietnam including: native speaker (English language) with a college degree or higher; foreigners with a college degree in English or higher; Foreigners with a college degree or higher and a foreign language proficiency certificate of level 5 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Competency Framework for Vietnam or equivalent (hereinafter collectively referred to as students).

2. Objectives of the Program in Vietnam

- General objective

Help students develop English teaching skills effectively, flexibly and in accordance with the culture and context of Vietnam; Meet training needs and issue teaching training certificates to students; contributing to ensuring the quality of English teaching at foreign language centers and foreign language and information technology centers (hereinafter collectively referred to as foreign language centers).

- Detail objectives

After completing the training program, students need to meet the requirements for English teaching capacity at the foreign language center, specifically as follows:

+ Apply key knowledge, methods, and approaches in teaching English; analyze, evaluate, and adjust content and methods to suit learners, culture, and the context of teaching and learning English in Vietnam;

+ Apply skills to support teaching and learning flexibly and effectively; analyze, evaluate, and adjust effective classroom management and organization skills to support learning; develop lesson planning skills and assessment skills; Use technology, learning materials, and English teaching methods suitable for learners to develop the capacity and qualities of learners at the foreign language center;

+ Have a positive attitude and working spirit; responsibility; cooperation; professionalism; and flexible adaptability; respect Vietnamese customs and cultural traditions; and comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law.

3. Scope of knowledge and program duration in Vietnam

- Amount of knowledge and program duration

+ The program includes: 10 topics on knowledge, methods, and skills of teaching English and 01 internship topic.

+ Program duration: 160 teaching periods; each teaching period is 45 minutes (equivalent to 120 teaching hours; each teaching hour is 60 minutes).
