To strengthen Covid-19 prevention during Lunar New Year 2023 in Vietnam

To proactively strengthen epidemic prevention and control during the Lunar New Year, trade activities, tourism, and the festival season in early 2023 while ensuring scientific, safe, and effective epidemic prevention and control; at the same time, continue to promote recovery and socio-economic development, make the most of trade opportunities, attract tourists, Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control requests:

- Ministries, branches, and localities thoroughly grasp and organize the strict implementation of Directive 19-CT/TW dated December 18, 2022, and Directive 22/CT-TTg dated December 23, 2022; at the same time, continue to effectively implement Resolution 38/NQ-CP dated March 17, 2022.

- Ministry of Health:

+ Continue to regularly monitor and closely monitor the epidemic situation domestically and internationally;

Promptly provide guidance in case of necessity and closely coordinate with ministries, branches, and localities to direct, inspect, and supervise the organization and implementation of epidemic prevention and control work, ensuring a proactive, ready, and timely response to possible developments of the epidemic;

Coordinate with experts and domestic and international organizations to regularly update and evaluate the situation to adjust plans and measures to prevent and control epidemics promptly, appropriately, and effectively.

+ Coordinate with the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures, especially with the COVID-19 epidemic and infectious diseases that often occur in the winter and spring;

Proactively monitor and detect outbreaks early and handle outbreaks promptly to prevent spread and outbreaks in the community, limit the occurrence of severe cases and deaths, and further strongly promote COVID-19 vaccination.

- The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism presides and coordinates with the Ministry of Health and People's Committees of centrally-run provinces and cities:

+ Direct and guide tourism service establishments to implement measures to ensure safety for tourists and residents;

+ Strengthen inspection and supervision of the organization of activities and events during the Lunar New Year and the early 2023 festival season to ensure epidemic prevention and control.

- Ministries: Public Security, National Defense, Transport, Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, and related ministries and branches according to assigned functions, tasks, and powers; coordinate with localities to continue effectively implementing solutions to ensure security, order, social safety, and goods circulation during the Lunar New Year and New Year festivals so that people can celebrate Tet safely, joyfully, and healthily;

At the same time, continue to ensure the goals and requirements of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in recovery, socio-economic development, trade, and tourism.

- Ministries: Information and Communications, Health, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, press agencies, People's Committees of provinces, and centrally-run cities direct and strengthen communication information and advise people:

+ Proactively continue to implement epidemic prevention and control measures and personal prevention, such as: wearing masks in public, regularly disinfecting, washing hands,...

+ Strictly implement full-dose COVID-19 vaccination on schedule as recommended by the health sector, especially for those at high risk of disease.

- People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities:

+ Strengthen monitoring and closely following the epidemic situation and organize effective implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures; Direct, inspect, and supervise epidemic prevention and control to ensure a proactive, ready, and timely response to possible developments of the epidemic.

+ Strengthen direction and inspection of epidemics at border gates, especially with cases of entry from epidemic outbreak areas, from places where new, dangerous variants of the SARS-CoV-2; promote surveillance in the community, at medical examination and treatment facilities, and early detection of variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

+ Focus on directing and continuing to promote COVID-19 vaccination; regularly review to ensure that at-risk groups, especially the elderly, people with underlying medical conditions, immunocompromised people, etc., are fully vaccinated and on schedule; Promote vaccination for children from 5 years old to under 12 years old.

+ Continue to ensure patient collection and treatment; ensure enough medicine, supplies, and equipment to serve epidemic prevention and control; and prepare facilities in case new epidemic situations arise.

+ Strengthen communication about COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures at border gates and in the community to raise people's awareness of protecting their health in the new situation.
