To prohibit inmates from bringing cash, gold, silver, precious stones into prisons in Vietnam

This is a notable content in Circular 132/2012/TT-BQP issued by the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam on regulations for military detention facilities.

To prohibit inmates from bringing cash, gold, silver, precious stones into prisons in Vietnam (Illustrative image)

Article 23 of the Military Prison Regulations issued with Circular 132/2012/TT-BQP stipulates the types of items prohibited for inmates in Vietnam to bring into the prison, including:

- Various types of weapons and explosives: all kinds of military weapons; hunting rifles; rudimentary weapons; sports weapons, homemade weapons, and other weapons with similar functions; explosives including all types of explosive materials and accessories.

- Supporting tools: plastic bullets, rubber bullets, tear gas, smoke gas, toxic substances, anesthetics, electromagnets, lasers, signal flares and bullets used for these guns; devices used for spraying tear gas, smoke gas, toxic substances, anesthetics, itching substances; smoke grenades, tear gas grenades, explosive grenades; electric batons, rubber batons, metal batons, spiked belts, spiked wires, bulletproof vests, electric gloves, knife-catching gloves, bulletproof helmets, bows, arrows, crossbows, slingshots, handcuffs, and other supporting tools.

- Anesthetics, toxins, flammable substances, flammables, itching substances, radioactive substances, chemicals, and poisons.

- Narcotics; pharmaceutical drugs with addictive substances (except as prescribed by authorized medical agencies).

- Alcohol, beer, cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and other stimulants.

- Metal objects and other items such as: belts, electric wires, guitar strings, and other types of wires that can be used to endanger the life and health of inmates, porcelain, ceramics, stones, baked clay, glass, vacuum flasks, sharp objects, and items that can be used as weapons.

- Cash, foreign currency, valuable papers, gold, silver, precious stones, and precious metals.

- Other documents such as: identification cards, armed forces identification cards, passports, household registration books, vocational certificates, various types of cards, degrees, certificates, and other types of certification documents.

- Technical and electronic devices: audio recording devices, video recording devices, audio-visual devices, phones, walkie-talkies, and other types of signal transceivers (except for medical devices prescribed by authorized medical agencies).

-Various types of publications: books and newspapers in foreign languages, uncensored religious and belief publications; pictures, photos, movies, tapes, discs with superstitious, reactionary, lascivious content; different types of playing cards and books, newspapers, and publications that negatively affect the management and education of inmates.

- Other items that may cause insecurity in the prison, harm the inmate themselves and others, negatively impact the environmental hygiene, or are used for gambling purposes.
