Times for Asset and Income Declaration that Officials Need to Know

Article 36 of the Anti-Corruption Law 2018 stipulates that, depending on the specific case, the timing of asset and income declarations of officials will vary. To be specific:

1. For the first-time asset declaration

The declaration must be completed before December 31, 2019; for officials holding a position for the first time, the declaration must be completed no later than 10 days from the date of reception, recruitment, or assignment to the position.

2. Supplemental declaration

In cases where an official's assets or income undergo significant changes during the year, amounting to VND 300,000,000 or more, a supplemental declaration must be made and completed before December 31 of the year in which the significant changes in assets or income occurred.

3. Annual declaration

Annual declarations must be completed before December 31 in the following cases:

- Persons holding a position from Director of the Department and above.- Persons not holding a position from Director of the Department and above but involved in personnel organization, public financial management, public asset management, public investment, or directly engaging in and resolving the work of agencies, organizations, units, or individuals.

4. Declaration for personnel purposes

- Officials anticipated to be elected, approved, appointed, reappointed, or assigned to another position. The declaration must be completed no later than 10 days before the anticipated date of election, approval, appointment, reappointment, or assignment to another position.- Candidates for the National Assembly, People's Council members, shall declare timing as per the provisions of electoral laws.
