The Ministry of National Defense issued Circular 07/2016/TT-BQP on January 26, 2016, specifying the time limits for considering military rank promotion for non-commissioned officers and soldiers who are trainees in educational institutions.
The timeline for promotion in military rank for non-commissioned officers and soldiers who are students at military schools is regulated by Circular 07 as follows:
For students attending military schools:
- Promotion to Private First Class: Must have held the rank of Private for 06 months- Promotion to Corporal: Must have held the rank of Private First Class for 06 months- Promotion to Sergeant: Must have held the rank of Corporal for 12 months- Promotion to Staff Sergeant: Must have held the rank of Sergeant for 12 months.
For graduates of non-commissioned officer command training as regulated by Circular 07:
- Squad Leader training and equivalent positions; graduates with a good grade or better are promoted to Sergeant, average grade graduates are promoted to Corporal;- Deputy Platoon Leader training and equivalent positions, graduates are promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In cases where students graduate from technical specialty and junior professional training:
- Training duration of 06 months or less: Excellent grade graduates are promoted to Sergeant; good and average grade graduates are promoted to Corporal.- Training duration of more than 06 months: Good grade or better graduates are promoted to Sergeant; average grade graduates are promoted to Corporal.
Particularly, for students who excel in their duties and are awarded from the title of Emulation Fighter or higher, they are considered for promotion by one rank; those with particularly outstanding achievements are considered for extraordinary promotion regardless of the time frame specified above.
Students who do not graduate or do not complete the training program are not eligible for promotion in military rank.
