The Ministry of Health to request strengthening the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam

In order to continue to proactively take measures to prevent and control the epidemic, to control the epidemic situation, to prevent the outbreak from resurfacing, and to contribute to creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam respectfully requests the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities to direct the implementation of the following contents:

- Continue to thoroughly understand and strictly implement the directions of the Government and the Prime Minister of Vietnam in the prevention of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases;

Absolutely not be subjective, negligent, lose vigilance, or fail to effectively implement measures to prevent and control the epidemic according to Resolution 38/NQ-CP and the Plan for prevention and control of infectious diseases in 2023 specified in Decision 1331/QD-BYT dated 10/3/2023.

- Promote vaccination against COVID-19 to achieve the goals set by the Government and the Prime Minister of Vietnam;

Mobilize the participation of local authorities, departments, agencies, and mass organizations to drastically implement the review and mobilization of subjects participating in vaccination against COVID-19; especially for high-risk groups.

- Actively and closely monitor the epidemic situation in the area; prepare to respond to possible epidemic situations.

Strengthen the implementation of measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic at educational institutions, supervise at border gates, in health facilities, and in the community for early detection and timely handling; prevent the disease from spreading to the community;

Work closely with units of the Ministry of Health to proactively detect new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus early.

- Organize the assessment of the epidemic level according to Resolution 128/NQ-CP and Decision 218/QD-BYT to promptly apply appropriate epidemic prevention and control measures according to the epidemic level.

- Directly organize well the collection, emergency care, and treatment of disease cases, especially for high-risk groups such as pregnant women, people with underlying diseases, and the elderly; minimize deaths and strictly implement infection control to prevent cross-contamination in treatment facilities;

Prepare plans to accept and treat patients and actively improve treatment capacity, especially emergency and active resuscitation capacity, to meet treatment requirements.

Continue to ensure logistics, funding, drugs, vaccines, biological products, supplies, chemicals, equipment, and human resources for epidemic prevention and control.

- Strengthen disease prevention communication to raise awareness and change people's behavior in protecting the health of themselves, their families, and the community.

Regularly update information on the epidemic situation and advise people to comply with epidemic prevention requirements such as wearing masks, disinfecting in medical facilities, on public transport, and at places and events with large crowds, especially on public holidays in the near future.

Concentrate information on the benefits and effects of vaccines; closely follow the psychological trends of the people, society; improve self-confidence in the community; and mobilize the people to participate in vaccination fully and on schedule.
