On June 10, 2024, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Decision 1596/QD-BYT concerning the Expanded Immunization Plan for 2024.

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam issues the Expanded Immunization Plan for 2024 with the following details:

(1) Objectives

- Ensure the sufficient supply of vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program (EIP).

- Maintain achievements and enhance the effectiveness of the EIP.

- Introduce new vaccines in the EIP (Rota, Td vaccines).

(2) Professional Targets

- Achieve vaccination rates for vaccines within the EIP as follows:

Based on registration documents from 63 provinces/cities, the targets for the 2024 Expanded Immunization Program are as follows:

- Children: 1,269,292

- Pregnant women: 1,203,650

* Vaccine Quantities

The 2024 vaccine demand is estimated based on the registered needs of 63 provinces/cities (including vaccines to catch up on missed doses from the 2023 EIP, 2024 targets, and a 6-month reserve for 2025 as stipulated in Article 7 Clause 1 of Decree 104/ND-CP dated July 1, 2016, by the Government of Vietnam concerning vaccination activities), purchased/donated vaccines, vaccination targets, and utilization factors, with a total of 24,318,396 doses, including 11 types of vaccines (Hepatitis B for newborns, BCG, OPV, Measles, Measles - Rubella, Japanese Encephalitis, DPT, Td, Tetanus, Rota, and DPT-HepB-Hib; IPV vaccine donated by GAVI with an estimated 2,694,000 doses).
