The following article pertains to the age of individuals eligible for military driver licenses from January 1, 2025 in Vietnam stipulated in Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP.

On October 14, 2024, the Minister of National Defense of Vietnam issued Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP regulating the training, examination, and issuance of military driver licenses; supplementing legal knowledge on road traffic for operators of special-purpose vehicles under the management of the Ministry of National Defense.
According to the provisions of Article 8 of Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP, the ages for issuing military driver licenses in Vietnam are as follows:
- Military personnel, defense officials, public defense employees, and contractual workers serving in the Ministry of National Defense who are 18 years of age or older may be issued a military driver license class A1, A, B1, B, C1, C.
- Military personnel, defense officials, public defense employees, and contractual workers serving in the Ministry of National Defense who are 24 years of age or older may be issued a military driver license class D1, D2, C1E, CE, CX.
Cases of transition training from class C to class CE or CX according to the General Staff's targets must be 19 years of age or older.
- Military personnel, defense officials, public defense employees, and contractual workers serving in the Ministry of National Defense who are 27 years of age or older may be issued a military driver license class D. The maximum age of individuals issued a military driver license class D is 57 years for men and 55 years for women.
The conditions for individuals learning to drive military vehicles are regulated in Article 9 of Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP as follows:
- Military personnel, defense officials, public defense employees, and contractual workers serving in the Ministry of National Defense must meet the conditions of personal standards related to age, work duration, health, educational level, and political qualities as stipulated by the Ministry of National Defense.
For contractual workers: Training for upgrade is only allowed when they meet the conditions and standards specified in Clause 1, Article 9 of Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP.
- Regarding individuals seeking to upgrade military driver licenses, driving experience and safe driving kilometers must be as follows:
+ From class B to class C1; class C1 to class C, C1E; class C to class D1, CE, CX; class D1 to class D2; class D2 to class D: At least 2 years of driving experience and 30,000 km of safe driving (excluding transition training from class C to class CE or CX according to General Staff targets);
+ From class B to class C, D1; class C1 to D1; class C to class D2; class D1 to class D: At least 3 years of driving experience and 50,000 km of safe driving;
+ From class B to class D2, from class C1 to class D2, from class C to class D: At least 5 years of driving experience and 100,000 km of safe driving.
- Individuals upgrading to class D1, D2, D military driver licenses, in addition to the provisions in Clauses 1 and 2 of Article 9 of Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP must have a certificate of junior high school graduation or higher.

Upon the effective date of Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP, the following Circulars will no longer be in effect:
- Circular 170/2021/TT-BQP of the Minister of National Defense regulating the training, examination, and issuance of military driver licenses; supplementing legal knowledge on road traffic for operators of special-purpose vehicles in the Ministry of National Defense;
- Circular 86/2023/TT-BQP of the Minister of National Defense amending and supplementing certain articles of Circular 170/2021/TT-BQP regarding the training, examination, and issuance of military driver licenses; supplementing legal knowledge on road traffic for operators of special-purpose vehicles in the Ministry of National Defense.
