Technical Requirements for Elevating Work Platforms for Lifting Personnel in Circular 48

This is the content to note in Circular 48/2015/TT-BLDTBXH promulgating the national technical regulation on occupational safety for platforms used to lift people, issued on December 08, 2015 by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

A platform lift used for lifting persons must meet the requirements listed in Circular 48/2015/TT-BLDTBXH as follows:

- The height of the handrail of the platform lift must not be less than 1100mm measured from the surface of the platform lift to the top of the handrail. The distance of the middle rail of the handrail to the upper edge of the toe board must not exceed 550mm. The toe board must be at least 100mm high measured from the surface of the platform lift.- The size of the working platform must be suitable for the number of persons allowed to work on the platform and the tools and materials carried. The width of the working platform must not be less than 500mm. The working area of the platform lift must not be less than 0.25 m^2^/person.- The working surface of the platform must be anti-slip and securely fastened to the platform surface, and can only be removed when absolutely necessary.- The holes on the working surface must be small enough to prevent materials similar to a sphere with a diameter of 15mm from passing through.- Appropriate drainage points must be designed to prevent water from accumulating on the surface.- Suspended high-altitude working platforms must be equipped with emergency escape devices for operators in case of power failure.- The platform door must be designed to close and be securely held in a fixed position. The door can only be opened when necessary at the operator's intention and must ensure safety.- ...
