Teachers Are Entitled to Special Allowances and Salary Based on Job Position

From July 01, 2020, the Education Law 2019 will officially come into effect with a notable provision that ranks the salaries of educators according to job positions and grants them the priority to receive special occupational allowances.

Article 76 of the Education Law 2019 stipulates that teachers are graded salary suitable to their job position and professional labor; are given priority to receive special occupational allowances as regulated by the Government of Vietnam.

Additionally, the Law also provides for the application of policies on allowances and preferential policies to groups such as:

- Teachers working at specialized schools, gifted schools, boarding schools for ethnic minorities, semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities, pre-university schools, schools, classes for people with disabilities, reformatory schools, or other specialized schools.

- Teachers implementing inclusive education.

At the same time, the State has policies to encourage and provide preferential policies on allowances and other policies for teachers working in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions.

The preferential policies and allowance policies will be detailed by the Government of Vietnam in the coming time.
