The Large Enterprise Tax Department issued Official Dispatch 1345/CT-QLT2 on October 18, 2024, to disseminate and coordinate communication efforts in personal income tax refund operations.
In compliance with the directives of the Government of Vietnam and the Ministry of Finance on administrative procedure reform, the development of the electronic government, and the national digital transformation program, the Tax Department has intensified efforts in modernization and IT application to assist taxpayers in swiftly and conveniently declaring, paying, and electronically refunding taxes.
Currently, the procedure for online personal income tax finalization is executed through the software and website of the General Department of Taxation, which substantially benefits citizens. Taxpayers can manage their time, and location, and file their applications quickly and easily without having to directly visit the tax office.
Thus, the Large Enterprise Tax Department urges individual taxpayers to absolutely refrain from providing personal information to unidentified parties. Individual taxpayers should independently file applications online through the software and website of the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam.
Recently, the Large Enterprise Tax Department has received several erroneous and inaccurate reports and petitions concerning personal income tax refunds, allegedly on behalf of employees at income-paying entities under the direct tax management of the Large Enterprise Tax Department. However, upon direct communication with employees, the department found that the feedback provided was inaccurate.
To safeguard taxpayer rights and interests, the Large Enterprise Tax Department recommends that businesses and organizations paying income:
- Promote and disseminate information to employees about registering and using electronic transaction accounts with the tax authorities to facilitate personal income tax finalization and refunds. Collaborate with the Large Enterprise Tax Department to support and encourage employees to install and use the eTaxMobile application. Individual taxpayers must never disclose personal information, account details, or passwords to others to prevent misuse and fraud in Vietnam.
- For prompt resolution of issues faced by individual taxpayers, income-paying organizations should grasp and compile reflections and concerns from employees regarding tax finalization and personal income tax refund procedures to promptly send to tax authorities for guidance. Income-paying organizations should inform employees that if any issues arise in tax finalization, tax exemption, or personal income tax refunds, they should channel their inquiries through the designated contact point at the income-paying organization for solution proposals by the Large Enterprise Tax Department.
- If taxpayers detect acts of impersonation or receive information suggesting impersonation, they should immediately notify tax authorities and income-paying organizations to check, guide for verification promptly, and carry out preventive measures against damages.
- Taxpayers should refrain from downloading or installing applications via unofficial URLs or instructions, noting fraudulent application signs such as frequent requests for screen viewing permissions, data entry, and screen control...
- Applications provided by the General Department of Taxation are available at: Tax Declaration Assistance Application (HTKK) from the tax sector information portal: https://www.gdt.gov.vn; Electronic tax service portal: https://thuedientu.gdt.gov.vn; eTax Mobile app available via Google Play (for Android devices) and Apple Store (for iOS devices).
