Tasks Required When Analyzing Soil Samples in the Field Laboratory

On October 25, 2018, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Circular 15/2018/TT-BTNMT on the economic-technical norms for XRF analysis work using handheld or portable devices to determine the content of chemical elements in soil samples.

According to the regulations, when analyzing soil samples in the field or laboratory, the following tasks must be carried out:

- Receive the sample, review the sample, and weigh the sample;- Place the sample into a plastic bag, write the label (sample number) with a pencil and put it into the sample bag, and make a list of samples to be analyzed;- Prepare the equipment, check the equipment connection to the computer, and check the parameters to be analyzed;- Prepare and arrange the sample in a conformable position for analysis;- Set the time for a measurement;- Conduct the sample analysis;- Perform repeat analysis and calibrate the sample;- Remove the analyzed sample from the equipment, store the sample in a warehouse, record the analysis results, and process the data;- Create an analysis result sheet, evaluate the analysis results, and make a list of samples that need to be sent for analysis by other methods with higher accuracy.

Note: The standard time for analysis work at the field office or laboratory for 100 samples is 4.55.
