Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree No. 07/2014/ND-CP regulating the organization, tasks, powers, and coordination relationships of the anti-terrorism steering committees at all levels.
According to Decree No. 07/2014/ND-CP of Vietnam’s Government, the National Anti-terrorism Steering Committee shall have the following tasks and powers:
- Implement the tasks and powers specified in Clause 1 Article 13 of the Anti-Terrorism Law of Vietnam.
- Inspect, urge, and guide the Ministry-level, provincial-level, and central-affiliated city-level anti-terrorism steering committees in carrying out anti-terrorism work.
- Submit to the Prime Minister for issuance of the plans for handling terrorist situations, as well as the mechanisms for directing and commanding the handling of terrorist situations.
- Provide advice to the Government and the Prime Minister in directing the resolution of terrorist incidents in cases where it is necessary to declare a state of emergency regarding national security, public order, or social security, or when there is a potential threat to national security, public order, or social security that does not reach the level of declaring a state of emergency.
- Perform other tasks and exercise other powers assigned by the Government or the Prime Minister.
