On August 04, 2007, the National Assembly enacted the Law on Anti-Corruption (Amended) 2007. This Law supplemented the provincial and centrally-affiliated city steering committees for anti-corruption.
To be specific, according to the provisions in Clause 1, Article 1 of the Law on Anti-Corruption amended in 2007, the Anti-Corruption Steering Committee is regulated as follows:
- The Central Anti-Corruption Steering Committee, headed by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam, is responsible for directing, coordinating, inspecting, and urging anti-corruption activities nationwide. Assisting the Central Anti-Corruption Steering Committee is a specialized standing department.
- The Provincial and Municipal Anti-Corruption Steering Committees, directly under the central government, headed by the Chairman of the People's Committee of the respective province or city, are responsible for directing, coordinating, inspecting, and urging anti-corruption activities within the province or centrally governed city. The Provincial and Municipal Anti-Corruption Steering Committees have an assisting unit.
The organization, tasks, powers, and operational regulations of the Central Anti-Corruption Steering Committee and the Provincial and Municipal Anti-Corruption Steering Committees are stipulated by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly upon the proposal of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
