Summary of the Criteria for Recognition as a National Park

At the beginning of 2019, the Ministry of Planning and Investment promulgated Circular 03/2019/TT-BKHDT stipulating the Set of Statistical Indicators for Sustainable Development of Vietnam.

To be specific:, Circular 03/2019/TT-BKHDT stipulates that national parks must meet the following criteria:

- Have at least one natural ecosystem characteristic of a region, or of the nation, internationally, or have at least one endemic species of Vietnam, or have more than 05 species listed in the category of endangered, precious, and rare forest plant and animal species;- Have special value in science and education; have environmental scenery, unique natural beauty, and value in ecotourism, resort, and recreational activities;- Have a contiguous area of at least 7,000 hectares, of which at least 70% of the area consists of forest ecosystems.

According to Circular 03/2019/TT-BKHDT, national seed forests must meet the following criteria:

- Be a genetically transformed seed forest, planted seed forest of species listed in the main forestry tree seed catalog;- Meet the requirements of national standards for seed forests, with a minimum area of 30 hectares.
