Summary of Exam Content for Promoting Science and Technology Public Employees from Rank II to Rank I

The promotion examination for public employees specializing in Science and Technology (S&T) from grade II to grade I involves four subjects, specifically:

1. General knowledge exam:

- Exam content: Assess the knowledge and understanding of the public employee about the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party and the laws and regulations of the State regarding socio-economic development and science and technology;- Examination form: Written test;- Exam duration: 180 minutes.

2. Professional knowledge and skills exam:

- Exam content: Test, assess the level, capacity, and skills to propose, develop, lead, and organize the implementation of scientific and technological tasks arising in practice;- Examination form: Writing and defending a scientific and technological task explanation;- Exam duration: Writing a scientific and technological task explanation: 8 hours; defending the task explanation: Maximum 30 minutes per candidate.

3. Foreign language exam:

- Exam content: Test skills in reading comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking at foreign language level 4. Candidates register to take the exam in one of the following languages: English, French, Russian, German, Chinese;- Examination form: 04 skills;- Exam duration: Reading, writing: 90 minutes; oral (listening, speaking): 15 minutes.

4. Information technology exam:

- Exam content: Test the level of computer proficiency meeting the basic information technology skills standards as stipulated in Circular 03/2014/TT-BTTTT;- Examination form: Multiple-choice test or practical test on the computer;- Exam duration: 45 minutes.

Circular 17/2018/TT-BKHCN takes effect from January 25, 2019.
