Circular 56/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulates that the water supply and drainage at the college level is a profession specialized in operating, managing, maintaining, and repairing water supply and drainage systems for civil works, urban areas, and industrial zones, throughout the entire life and production of society, meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework. Therefore, college students majoring in water supply and drainage in Vietnam need to meet the following 10 skills:

1. Use and select appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and accessories for processing and installation requirements;
2. Mark, cut, thread, bend, weld to create common and complex fittings and joints meeting technical requirements;
3. Install water-using equipment to proper dimensions and aesthetics; identify and rectify basic and complex damages and violations;
4. Install, repair, operate, and manage common water supply and drainage pipe systems inside and outside constructions;
5. Perform basic and complex installation and repair of piping systems and equipment for water supply and wastewater treatment facilities according to design;
6. Monitor and operate facilities in water supply and drainage treatment zones following procedures;
7. Implement construction of urban water supply and drainage projects and water supply and drainage systems in buildings;
8. Implement simple small-scale construction drawings on-site, guide and supervise workers in building according to design requirements and specialized technical standards;
9. Use basic information technology as regulated; exploit, process, and apply information technology in professional work;
10. Use basic foreign language, achieving level 2/6 in the Vietnam Foreign Language Proficiency Framework; apply foreign language in professional work.
