Starting from January 01, 2021, the pilot technical grade insignia will feature the text "QĐNDVN" (which stands for "People's Army of Vietnam")

This is an important provision in Circular 120/2020/TT-BQP issued by the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam, regulating the technical classification of pilots and crew members in the People's Army of Vietnam, promulgated on October 06, 2020.

Starting from January 01, 2021, the pilot technical grade insignia will feature the text "QĐNDVN" (which stands for "People's Army of Vietnam")​ (Illustrative Image)

To be specific, in Article 30 of Circular 120/2020/TT-BQP, it stipulates that the pilot technical rank badge and the crew member badge shall follow the regulations of the Vietnam People's Army Soldier Management Order and the Ministry of National Defense's regulations.

- Sample of the pilot technical rank badge: Made of metal; dimensions 80mm x 25mm x 07mm; golden swallow wing shape, with a shield in the middle, a golden 5-pointed star; yellow numbering to denote the pilot's technical level; the text "QĐNDVN" (which stands for "People's Army of Vietnam")​  is inscribed underneath.

- Sample of the crew member technical rank badge: Similar to the pilot technical rank badge, but with a hammer and compass symbol instead of the star.

- Samples of the pilot technical rank badge and crew member technical rank badge are specified in Appendix I issued with Circular 120/2020/TT-BQP.

- The pilot technical rank badge and crew member technical rank badge are worn on the standard military uniform.

Additionally, the authority to issue the Pilot Technical Rank Certificate and Crew Member Technical Rank Certificate is specified as follows:

+ The Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army approves the list; the Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, the Commander of the Navy, the Commander of the Coast Guard, and the Commander of Brigade 18 sign the Military Pilot Technical Rank Certificate Level 1 for pilots, flight instructor pilots, and navigator pilots;

+ The Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, the Commander of the Navy, the Commander of the Coast Guard, and the Commander of Brigade 18 sign the Military Pilot Technical Rank Certificate Level 2, Level 3 for pilots, flight instructor pilots, and navigator pilots, and sign the Crew Member Technical Rank Certificate Level 1, Level 2, Level 3.
