Standards for Teachers Instructing at Foreign Language and Informatics Centers

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 21/2018/TT-BGDDT on the Regulation on the organization and operation of foreign language centers. Teachers teaching at foreign language and IT centers must meet the following conditions:

For Vietnamese teachers qualified to teach foreign languages or information technology, the following criteria must be met:

- Possess a college degree or higher in information technology or foreign languages;- Possess a college degree or higher in information technology or foreign languages plus a teaching certificate.

For foreign teachers teaching information technology, they must possess a college degree or higher in information technology and a suitable teaching certificate for information technology.

For native teachers teaching foreign languages, they must possess a college degree or higher and a suitable teaching certificate for foreign languages.

For foreign teachers qualified to teach foreign languages, they must meet one of the following criteria:

- Possess a college degree or higher in foreign language education;- Possess a college degree or higher in a foreign language plus a suitable teaching certificate for foreign language education;- Possess a college degree or higher, a foreign language proficiency certificate of level 5 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam or an equivalent, and a suitable teaching certificate for foreign language education.
