On November 14, 2023, the Minister of Public Security issued Circular 62/2023/TT-BCA regulating specific health standards and medical examinations for the People's Public Security force.

Specific health standards for recruitment into the People's Public Security in Vietnam

(1) General standards

Citizens who participate in the recruitment into the People's Public Security, non-commissioned officers who have completed their term of active service in the People's Public Security are considered for transfer to the professional service regime and are recognized as having good health conditions when they meet the following standards:

- Having health Type 1 (one), Type 2 (two);

- Height from 1m64 to 1m95 for men and from 1m58 to 1m80 for women, except for specific cases where height standards are reduced as specified in (1) and (2);

- Visual acuity without glasses in each eye reaches 09-10/10; total visual acuity in 02 eyes reaches 18/10 or higher. If the eyes have refractive errors, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, each eye should not exceed 3 (three) diopters; If astigmatism is present, physiological astigmatism or each eye is less than 01 (one) diopter; Check the vision of one eye through glasses at least 09/10, the total vision of both eyes through glasses is 19/10 or higher (must commit to ensuring vision standards according to regulations if admitted for new enrollment subjects, recruiting citizens to the People's Public Security, considering switching to a professional service regime in the People's Public Security), except for the case specified in Point b, Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 62/2023/TT-BCA;

- Meets specific indicators as prescribed in Article 6 of Circular 62/2023/TT-BCA.

(2) Specific health standards for recruiting citizens to the People's Public Security.

Citizens participating in recruitment to the People's Public Security must meet the standards specified in (1) and the following standards:

- Citizens applying to People's Public Security schools are non-commissioned officers serving on active duty in the People's Public Security: Apply the height standards at the time of selection to perform the duty of joining the People's Public Security;

- Citizens applying to People's Public Security schools who are ethnic minorities: Height ranges from 1m62 to 1m95 for men and from 1m56 to 1m80 for women. Citizens belonging to priority policy subjects 01 Group UT1 in Appendix II of Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT: Height from 1m60 to 1m95 for men, 1m55 to 1m80 for women;

- Citizens applying to People's Public Security schools are Vietnamese citizens who have graduated from university degrees at domestic and foreign universities or higher: Citizens who graduate from natural sciences, engineering, computer science, and information technology are subject to health standards of height ranging from 1m62 to 1m95 for men, 1m56 to 1m80 for women;

- Citizens applying for high school cultural education are directly recruited and subject to admission: Height from 1m55 for men, from 1m50 for women;

- Citizens with multiple priority categories are only entitled to the highest priority category.

(3) Specific health standards in selecting citizens to join the People's Public Security and considering switching to a professional service regime for non-commissioned officers whose active duty term has expired in the People's Public Security

Citizens recruited into the People's Public Security and non-commissioned officers who have completed their active service term in the People's Public Security and are considered for transfer to professional service must meet the general standards specified in (1) and the following standards:

- For non-commissioned officers who have completed their active service period in the People's Public Security, they are considered for transfer to the professional service regime: Apply height standards at the time of selection to perform the duty to join the People's Public Security;

- Recruiting citizens with scientific and technical qualifications to work in professional techniques, criminal techniques, information technology, ciphers, network security, and electronic warfare; people with qualifications as level I specialist doctor, level II specialist doctor, resident doctor, level I specialist pharmacist, level II specialist pharmacist, master's degree, doctorate degree in medicine or pharmacy; have the title of professor or associate professor; Ethnic minorities: Height: 1m62 to 1m95 for men, 1m56 to 1m80 for women; If the eyes have refractive errors, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, each eye should not exceed 05 diopters; Astigmatism is physiological astigmatism, or each eye is less than 01 (one) diopter, the vision test of one eye through glasses is at least 09/10, and the total vision of both eyes is 19/10 or higher.
