On September 04, 2018, the Government of Vietnam issued the Decree No. 114/2018/NĐ-CP on dam and reservoir safety management.
Specifically, according to Article 3 of the Decree No. 114/2018/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, specially important dams, reservoirs and large dams, reservoirs are stipulated as follows:
1. Specially important dams and reservoirs refer to:
+ dams at the height of from 100 m and above or dams of reservoirs prescribed in Point b and c this Clause;
+ reservoirs with full capacity of from 1,000,000,000 m3 and above;
+ reservoirs with full capacity of from 500,000,000 m3 to less than 1,000,000,000 m3 of which dam lowland is an important city, district-level town, industrial zone or work related to national security.
2. Large dams and reservoirs refer to:
+ dams at the height of from 15m to less than 100 m or dams of reservoirs prescribed in Point c this Clause;
+ dams at the height of from 10 m to less than 15 m and length of from 500 m and above or dams at the height of from 10 m to less than 15 m with flood discharge flow rate at over 2,000 m3/s;
+ reservoirs with full capacity of from 3,000,000 m3 to less than 1,000,000,000 m3, except for reservoirs prescribed in Point c Clause 1 this Article.
Besides, medium-size dams and reservoirs refer to:
- dams at the height of from 10 m to less than 15 m or dams of reservoirs prescribed in Point b this Clause, except for dams prescribed in Point b Clause 2 this Article;
- reservoirs with full capacity of from 500,000 m3 to less than 3,000,000 m3
Small dams and reservoirs refer to dams at the height of less than 10 m or reservoirs with full capacity of less than 500,000m3.
