Skills to be achieved by graduates in aviation security awareness at the college level in Vietnam

Recently, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs promulgated Circular 56/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at intermediate and college levels in the fields of transportation services, environment, and security.

Skills to be achieved by graduates in aviation security awareness at the college level in Vietnam (Illustration)

Circular 56/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates that graduates of the college-level aviation security awareness program, need to achieve the following skills:

- Operate, exploit, and use proficiently, safely, and effectively various types of security vehicles, equipment, weapons, and support tools that are allocated and installed at the workplace;

- Identify issues, events, and phenomena related to aviation security, and irregularities occurring during the performance of duties;

- Analyze and identify trends in new methods and tactics of criminal activities, unlawful interference in the aviation industry, methods, and habits of concealing and transporting dangerous items into restricted areas and onto aircraft;

- Develop plans, set up security checkpoints with appropriate and effective manpower and security equipment;

- Proficiently perform procedures for patrolling, guarding, inspecting, searching, supervising, screening, and visual awareness of vehicles, people, luggage, goods, mail, catering, and objects; handling dangerous items; procedures for the initial response to incidents and security events;

- Implement self-defense, defense measures, and skills to control and prevent offenders when necessary, and other physical and physical skills to handle complex tasks within the scope of the profession;

- Integrate teamwork skills such as: organization, cooperation, cohesion, listening, responsibility, assistance to perform assigned tasks effectively;

- Manage and operate security teams and methods to plan, determine tasks, allocate specific work to members, and organize the implementation, addressing requirements and situations arising during the management and operation of the team performing professional duties;

- Manage, supervise, inspect, and evaluate work results ensuring compliance with processes and quality in working departments;

- Write periodic reports (including security status, daily equipment, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly summaries) and specialized reports as required by specific job positions; prepare security violation files, incident reports, logbooks, and manage shift handovers and work sessions;

- Use basic information technology as required; exploit, process, and apply information technology in professional work related to the sector or profession;

- Use basic foreign languages, equivalent to level 2/6 on Vietnam’s language proficiency framework; apply foreign languages in specialized work related to the sector or profession.
