Skills Required Upon Graduation from Intermediate Level Nursing

Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate level and college level in health and social service disciplines. This Circular was issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs on December 28, 2018.

According to the Regulations on Minimum Knowledge Volume and Competence Requirements that Learners Must Achieve After Graduating from Intermediate-Level and College-Level in Nursing, issued together with Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum skills required for learners after graduating from the intermediate-level in nursing are as follows:

- Assess the patient's condition and make appropriate nursing diagnoses for the patient;

- Classify patients coming for examination and emergency to provide suitable management directions;

- Implement patient care plans;

- Proficiently perform basic and specialized nursing techniques;

- Assist doctors in performing procedures on patients;

- Provide first aid and initial emergency treatment in community emergency cases;

- Manage medical equipment, consumable materials, medications, files, and records;

- Monitor, evaluate the condition, and record daily developments of the patient, detect and report any abnormal developments of the patient;

- Communicate politely and friendly with patients;

- Provide health counseling and education to patients, their relatives, and the community;

- Participate in the early detection of local epidemics and propose coordinated measures for epidemic prevention and public health protection;

- Utilize basic information technology as prescribed; apply information technology in some specialized tasks of the industry;

- Use basic foreign language, achieving level 1/6 in the Vietnamese Foreign Language Competency Framework; apply foreign language in some specialized tasks of the industry.
