Signal Lights When Entering or Exiting Stations and Railway Yards Must Meet What Requirements?

In order to ensure the safety of railway transportation, the State has issued numerous regulations concerning the requirements for this type of transportation infrastructure. The most recent is Circular 32/2018/TT-BGTVT replacing Circular 12/2015/TT-BGTVT, which promulgates 02 national technical standards for railways.

To be specific, Circular 32 stipulates the requirements for color signals when entering and exiting stations and yards as follows:

When entering a station or yard:

- One red light: the train is not allowed to pass this signal;- One green light: the train is allowed to pass the switch straight through the station (or yard) on the main track;- One yellow light: the train is allowed to pass the switch straight onto the main track and prepare to stop;- Two yellow lights: the train is allowed to pass the switch onto the secondary track and prepare to stop;- One green light and one yellow light: the train is allowed to pass the switch straight into the station and prepare to stop, indicating that the signal to enter the yard is open;- One white light and one red light: the train is allowed to enter at a speed not exceeding 15 km/h and must be prepared to stop in case of an obstacle.

When exiting a station:

- Automatic blocking section:- One red light: the train is not allowed to pass this signal;- One green light: indicates that there are at least two cleared subsections ahead, allowing the train to enter the section at the prescribed speed;- One yellow light: allows the train to enter the section and be cautious as there is only one cleared subsection ahead;- Two green lights: allows the train to enter the section in a diverging direction;- Semi-automatic blocking section:- One red light: the train is not allowed to pass this signal;- One green light: allows the train to enter the section;- Two green lights: allows the train to enter the section in a diverging direction.
