This is the content stipulated in Circular 30/2017/TT-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health on July 11, 2017, guiding the method of processing traditional medicinal herbs.
Accordingly, Circular 30 stipulates the purpose of selecting medicinal materials before processing as follows:
- Eliminate parts that are not used or do not meet the standards for medicine;- Remove parts that cause undesirable effects;- Create uniformity in size to facilitate processing.
At the same time, Circular 30 also specifically regulates the techniques and applications of processing as follows:
- Remove auxiliary roots: Processing Thach xuong bo, Thuy xuong bo, Huong phu, Cau tich, Cot toai bo, etc.;- Remove root tips: Processing Nhan sam, Nguu tat, Communist Party sam, etc.;- Remove heads, legs, wings: Processing Ngo cong, Toan yet, etc.;- Remove root cores: Processing Vien chi, Mach mon, Tang bach bi, Mau don bi, Dia cot bi, etc.;- Remove hairs: Processing Ty ba diep, La hen, etc.;- Remove cork layer: Processing Que nhuc, Hau phac, Mau don bi, Tang bach bi, Tang chi, etc.;- Remove roots, remove nodes: Processing Ma hoang, etc.;- Remove leftover meat: Processing animal bones: bear, buffalo, cow, deer antlers, turtle shell, soft turtle shell, etc.;- Remove organic impurities: Processing Thach cao, Tu thach, etc.
