Salary ranking of teaching staff in higher education institutions in Vietnam

On October 26, 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued the Circular No. 40/2020/TT-BGDĐT stipulating codes, standards for professional titles, appointment and salary arrangement for teaching staff in public higher education institutions.

According to Article 10 of the Circular No. 40/2020/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, teaching staff's professional titles are applied the professional salary table for officials and public employees in non-business units of the State (Table 3) issued together with Decree No. 204/2004/NĐ-CP are specified as follows:

- The professional title of senior lecturer (class I) is applied the salary coefficient of A3 public employee, group 1 (A3.1) from salary coefficient 6.20 to salary coefficient 8.00;

- The professional title of main lecturer (class II) is applied the salary coefficient of A2 public employee, group 1 (A2.1) from salary coefficient 4.40 to salary coefficient 6.78;

- The professional title of lecturer (class III), teaching assistant (class III) are applied the salary coefficient of A1 public employee from salary coefficient 2.34 to salary coefficient 4.98.

The salary ranking of professional titles shall be carried out after being appointed by competent authorities to the professional titles specified in this Circular according to the guidance in Clause 1 Section II of Circular No. 02/2007/TT-BNV and according to current regulations of law.
