The Ministry of Public Security shall be responsible before the Government of Vietnam in the construction, management, exploitation, and utilization of reports on criminal investigation, with the following duties and powers:
- Direct the organization of report preparation; update information and take responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of information and data;- Preside, cooperate with ministries and central authorities concerned to develop, manage, exploit, and use software for managing the criminal investigation database;- Study and summarize reports from VKSNDTC, BQP, BTC, BNNPTNT to prepare reports and compile statistics nationwide.- Periodically send reports on criminal investigations to the National Assembly, UBTVQH, the President, the Government of Vietnam, and the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam regarding criminal investigations nationwide by the following dates:- February 15: for the 3-month report;- May 15: for the 6-month report;- August 15: for the 9-month report;- November 15: for the annual report;- Guide, urge, and inspect ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government of Vietnam in implementing the reporting policies on criminal investigations;- Preside, cooperate with concerned ministries and central authorities to develop report outlines and statistical forms on criminal investigations;- Perform other tasks assigned by the Government of Vietnam.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security is responsible for presiding, cooperating with relevant agencies and units to assist the Minister of Public Security in carrying out the above tasks and powers.
All the above content is stipulated in Decree 128/2017/ND-CP, effective from January 01, 2018.
