The Ministry of Transport issued Circular 04/2016/TT-BGTVT on April 4, 2016, listing in detail the responsibilities of the Can Tho Maritime Port Authority regarding the sea port water area.
Circular 04 stipulates that the Can Tho Maritime Administration is responsible for:
- Performing tasks and exercising authorities as prescribed by the Vietnam Maritime Code and related laws concerning maritime activities in the waters of the seaports within the provinces of Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, the waters of the seaports on the Hau River within the provinces of Hau Giang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, and the city of Can Tho;- Based on actual conditions regarding weather, waves, draft, ship tonnage, and the nature of the cargo, designate specific positions for ships to receive and disembark pilots, quarantine, anchor, transship, and avoid storms in the designated waters, ensuring maritime safety, maritime security, and environmental pollution prevention;- Based on actual conditions regarding weather, waves, draft, and the tonnage of ships entering and leaving the seaports managed by the Dong Thap Maritime Administration and the An Giang Maritime Administration, designate specific positions for ships to receive and disembark pilots, quarantine, anchor, and avoid storms in the designated waters, ensuring maritime safety, maritime security, environmental pollution prevention, and promptly notify the relevant maritime administration.
