Resolution 244/2008/NQ-HDND: Development of coastal tourism in Nghe An, Vietnam until 2020

On December 20, 2008, the People's Council of Nghe An Province issued Resolution 244/2008/NQ-HDND approving the master plan for socio-economic development of the coastal and marine areas of Nghe An Province, Vietnam until 2020.

Resolution 244/2008/NQ-HDND directs the development of Nghe An coastal tourism until 2020 as follows:

- Establish tourism spots, routes, and areas that bear Nghe An's unique identity. Integrate Nghe An coastal tourism with the province-wide tourism network, the Northern Central Vietnam region, and national tourism. Combine exploiting the domestic tourism market with the international market.

- Expand various forms and products of tourism such as: travel tours, cultural tourism (sightseeing, pilgrimage, commemoration, research), beach recreation, medical tourism, festivals, and eco-tourism to attract a growing and more diverse range of tourists.

- Expand joint ventures and collaborations with domestic and international units to mobilize all resources for tourism development.

- Enhance training for the tourism industry workforce in terms of professional skills, management expertise, and foreign languages. Promote marketing and tourism promotion activities. Raise awareness and the role of each citizen in tourism activities to attract more domestic and international tourists.- Complete tourism infrastructure; create consistency in providing tourism services; preserve and maintain historical, cultural relics, traditional festivals, and environmental landscapes.

- Develop the integrated tourism center of Vinh city (Quyet Mountain - Ben Thuy tourism cluster, Southwestern tourism cluster, Northern tourism cluster), the Cua Lo coastal tourism center, and Bai Lu tourist area. Develop Ngu Island into a premium coastal and eco-tourism island.
