Requirements for information and education on gender and gender equality in Vietnam (Internet image)

When implementing education and communication on gender and gender equality, it is necessary to comply with the requirements stipulated in Decree 48/2009/ND-CP as follows:

First, contents and forms of information, education and communication on gender and gender equality must satisfy the following requirements:

• Being conformable with basic principles of gender equality specified in Article 6 of the Law on Gender Equality;

• Setting orientations for and promoting gender equality in all fields of social life and families;

• Neither holding nor arousing gender prejudice; eliminating gender discrimination in all forms.

Second, persons engaged in information, education and communication on gender and gender equality must be knowledgeable about gender and gender equality.

Third, the contents of information, education and communication on gender and gender equality

• Policies and law on gender equality.

• Knowledge, information and data on gender and gender equality.

• Adverse impacts of gender prejudice and gender discrimination; the fight against, prevention and handling of violations of the law on gender equality.

• Good measures and experiences, advanced models and types in the implementation of policies and law on gender equality and the fight against gender discrimination and gender prejudice.

• Other contents related to gender and gender equality.

More details can be found in Decree 48/2009/ND-CP on measures to assure gender equality, which comes into force from July 15, 2009.
