Below is the content of the regulation on the reorganziation of commune-level administrative units in Lang Son province from December 1, 2024.

On October 24, 2024, the National Assembly Standing Committee of Vietnam issued Resolution 1246/NQ-UBTVQH15 regarding the reorganization of commune-level administrative units of Lang Son province for the period 2023 – 2025.
The reorganization of the commune-level administrative units in Lang Son province from December 1, 2024, is as follows:
(1) reorganization of commune-level administrative units in Trang Dinh district
- Merge the entire natural area of 29.64 km2, with a population size of 636 people from Vinh Tien commune into Khanh Long commune. After the merger, Khanh Long commune has a natural area of 75.20 km2 and a population size of 1,520 people.
Khanh Long commune borders the communes of Chi Minh, Doan Ket, Tan Tien, and Cao Bang province;
- Adjust part of the natural area of 18.61 km2, with a population size of 8,527 people from Dai Dong commune, to merge into the commune-level town That Khe. After the adjustment, That Khe commune-level town has a natural area of 19.48 km2 and a population size of 13,776 people.
That Khe town borders the communes of Chi Lang, De Tham, Doi Can, Hung Son, Khang Chien, and Tri Phuong;
- Merge the entire natural area of 9.00 km2, with a population size of 470 people from Dai Dong commune after the adjustment as stipulated at this point into Doi Can commune. After the merger, Doi Can commune has a natural area of 54.92 km2 and a population size of 1,333 people.
Doi Can commune borders the communes of Khang Chien, Tan Minh, Tri Phuong, Trung Thanh, Quoc Khanh, commune-level town That Khe, and the People's Republic of China;
- After the reorganization, Trang Dinh district has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 19 communes and 01 commune-level town.
(2) Reorganization of commune-level administrative units in Van Quan district
- Merge the entire natural area of 18.50 km2, with a population size of 2,747 people from Dong Giap commune, and the entire natural area of 18.37 km2, with a population size of 2,439 people from Trang Cac commune into Khanh Khe commune. After the merger, Khanh Khe commune has a natural area of 46.44 km2 and a population size of 7,126 people.
Khanh Khe commune borders the communes of An Son, Diem He, Tan Doan; Cao Loc district and Lang Son city;
- After the reorganization, Van Quan district has 15 commune-level administrative units, including 14 communes and 01 commune-level town.
(3) reorganization of commune-level administrative units in Loc Binh district
- Merge the entire natural area of 48.79 km2, with a population size of 1,752 people from Tinh Bac commune into Tam Gia commune. After the merger, Tam Gia commune has a natural area of 97.56 km2 and a population size of 3,831 people.
Tam Gia commune borders the communes of Khuat Xa, Tu Mich, San Vien; Dinh Lap district and the People's Republic of China;
- After the reorganization, Loc Binh district has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 18 communes and 02 commune-level towns.
After arranging the commune-level administrative units, Lang Son province has 11 district-level administrative units, including 10 districts and 01 city; 194 commune-level administrative units, including 175 communes, 05 wards, and 14 commune-level towns.
More details can be found in Resolution 1246/NQ-UBTVQH15, effective from December 1, 2024.
- The naming and renaming of administrative units formed after reorganization shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Organization of Local Government and the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on standards for administrative units and classification of administrative units; ensuring national unity, suitable with the historical, traditional, cultural factors of the locality, and respect the opinions of the majority of voters.
- In case of merging administrative units of the same level, it is encouraged to use one of the existing names of the administrative units before the merger to name the administrative unit formed after reorganization.
