On September 12, 2016, the Ministry of National Defense issued Circular 138/2016/TT-BQP guiding the implementation of certain policies for military sports coaches and athletes who are undergoing concentrated training and competition.
Coaches and athletes of military sports teams who do not receive a salary from the state budget will be paid a daily remuneration by the employing agency as follows:
Coaches
- Level 1 Coach: 120,000 VND/person/day;
- Level 2 Coach: 90,000 VND/person/day;
- Level 3 Coach: 90,000 VND/person/day.
Athletes
- Level 1 Athlete: 80,000 VND/person/day;
- Level 2 Athlete: 40,000 VND/person/day;
- Level 3 Athlete: 30,000 VND/person/day.
Also according to Circular 138/2016/TT-BQP, coaches and athletes who are non-commissioned officers or soldiers will be paid a subsistence allowance by the managing agency. If the actual number of training and competition days exceeds the standard number of working days in the month, the employing agency will pay the coaches and athletes for the extra days beyond the standard working days in the month.
In case the daily subsistence allowance according to the standard working days in the month plus the basic food allowance of infantry non-commissioned officers and soldiers is lower than the remuneration, the agency or unit employing the coaches and athletes will pay the difference. The calculation is as follows:
