Regulations on Speed Limit Signage in Residential Areas

This content is stipulated in Circular 91/2015/TT-BGTVT regulating the speed and safe distance of motor vehicles and special-use vehicles participating in road traffic, issued on December 31, 2015, by the Ministry of Transport.

According to Circular 91/2015/TT-BGTVT, the placement of speed limit signs must comply with the current road sign regulations and be based on the actual conditions of the respective road segments and routes.

Additionally, on branch roads leading to and from expressways, in cases where warning signs or speed limit signs are placed, the speed value indicated on the warning signs or speed limit signs must not be less than 50 km/h.

Note: The placement of signs indicating "Begin of Residential Area" and "End of Residential Area" must also follow the regulations on road signs and be based on the actual residential conditions on both sides of the road. Signs indicating residential areas should not be placed on segments that are not urbanized, sparsely populated, and with unobstructed visibility.

For more details, refer to Circular 91/2015/TT-BGTVT effective from March 01, 2016.
