Regulations on Required Knowledge for Intermediate-Level Nursing

Recently, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA) issued Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in health and social service sectors.

According to the Regulations on the Minimum Knowledge Volume, Competency Requirements Achieved by Students after Graduating from the Intermediate Level, College Level in Nursing Profession issued together with Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum knowledge that students must have after graduating from the intermediate level in nursing is as follows:

- Demonstrate basic knowledge of basic science, foundational medical science, and specialized disciplines to explain causes, symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment directions for patients to develop patient care plans;

- Analyze pharmacology, nutrition, human psychology, and infection control in patient care practice;

- Explain the pharmacokinetics processes of drugs, drug effects, and drug usage regulations to use medications rationally and safely;

- Present knowledge of microbiology to identify disease causes, sources of infection, to develop disease prevention plans;

- Explain the process of admitting patients to the hospital and guide patients on necessary documents and procedures for discharge;

- Analyze the psychological characteristics of each patient to choose appropriate communication and health consultation methods;

- Present basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense, security, and physical education as prescribed.
