Circular 37/2017/TT-BYT was issued by the Ministry of Health on September 25, 2017, specifying detailed regulations on personal protective equipment and health monitoring in a Level 1 biological laboratory.
Accordingly, the protection of individuals and health monitoring in biosafety level 1 laboratories are guided by Circular 37 as follows:
- Use long-sleeved protective clothing when working in the laboratory;- Protective clothing used in the laboratory must be kept separately;- Do not wear protective clothing used in the laboratory outside the laboratory area;- Use appropriate gloves when working with microorganisms that may cause infectious diseases in humans or with samples that may contain microorganisms that may cause infectious diseases in humans; gloves must be worn over the protective clothing sleeves;- Change gloves when contaminated, torn, or as necessary; remove gloves after completing the test and before leaving the laboratory; do not reuse used gloves; do not use gloves currently or previously used in the laboratory when opening or closing doors;- Use closed-toe shoes or sandals; do not use high-heeled shoes in the laboratory;- The laboratory must conduct health monitoring for laboratory staff in accordance with legal regulations on working hours, rest periods, labor safety, and occupational hygiene.
