Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 73/2009/ND-CP Guiding the Ordinance on Commune Police, applicable to Commune Police and relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals related to the activities of Commune Police throughout the territory of Vietnam.

Decree 73/2009/ND-CP stipulates that the Chiefs and Vice Chiefs of commune-level Public Security force involved in an accident while on duty, during training, political, legal, professional training courses, or on the way to perform duties, on the way to and from the place of training, political, legal, professional training according to the call-up decision of the competent authority, shall be entitled to the following policies:
- Payment of medical expenses during first aid, emergency treatment until the injury is stabilized and discharged from the hospital;
- After treatment, be introduced to the Medical Examination Council by the Commune People's Committee for labor capacity assessment according to legal regulations. In cases where the person is a participant in social insurance, the lump-sum or monthly allowance shall be implemented according to the provisions of the law on social insurance. In cases where the person has not participated in social insurance and has a reduced labor capacity of 5% or more, they are entitled to a lump-sum allowance, the allowance level is specifically guided by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs
- Persons who suffer from an accident that causes the disability of one or more body parts or functions, manifesting in different forms of disability, reducing activity capacity, making labor and learning difficult, shall be entitled to preferential policies according to the law provisions for disabled people;
- In case of death, including death during the first treatment period, if the deceased participated in social insurance, it shall be carried out according to the social insurance law; in case the deceased person has not participated in social insurance, the person responsible for the funeral shall receive funeral expenses equal to 08 (eight) months of the minimum wage and the deceased’s family shall receive a lump-sum allowance equal to 05 (five) months of the minimum wage.
