Red Cross Activities Must Be Public, Transparent, and Purposeful

Law on Red Cross Activities 2008 stipulates the activities of the Red Cross; symbols used in Red Cross activities;… The Law also prescribes certain principles in Red Cross activities.

To be specific, according to the provisions of Article 3 of the Law on Red Cross Activities 2008, Red Cross activities must ensure the following principles:

Firstly, voluntary, non-profit.

Secondly, transparent, clear; correct purpose and target; prompt and effective.

Thirdly, non-discriminatory, in line with the nation's humanitarian traditions.

Fourthly, use the Red Cross emblem.

Fifthly, comply with Vietnamese law and the international treaties on humanitarian activities to which Vietnam is a member.

For more details: Law on Red Cross Activities 2008 officially came into effect on January 1, 2009.
