This is the content stipulated in Circular 41/2018/TT-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health on December 14, 2018, promulgating the national technical regulations and regulations on inspection and supervision of the quality of clean water used for domestic purposes.
Accordingly, the sample quantity for each testing instance is specified in Circular 41 as follows:
- For water supply units serving fewer than 100,000 people: at least 03 clean water samples must be collected.- For water supply units serving 100,000 people or more: at least 04 clean water samples must be collected, with an additional 01 sample for every additional 100,000 people.
Simultaneously, Circular 41 also specifies the sampling locations as follows: 01 sample at the treated water storage tank of the water supply unit before being distributed into the pipeline network, 01 random sample at the tap at the end of the distribution pipeline network, and the remaining samples are randomly taken at the taps within the pipeline network (including transportation means such as tank trucks or water barges).
For agencies, units, residential complexes, collective zones, hospitals, schools, enterprises, and areas with centralized water storage tanks: at least 02 samples must be collected, including 01 sample at the centralized water storage tank and 01 random sample at the tap. If there are 02 or more centralized water storage tanks, at least 01 sample must be collected from each tank and 01 random sample at the tap.
Note that in the event of a risk of water source contamination or an epidemic situation: the number of water samples taken at various locations may be increased for testing.
