Prohibition of Fetal Sex Selection in All Forms

The Population Ordinance of 2003, issued on January 09, 2003, stipulates regulations regarding population scale, population structure, distribution of inhabitants, population quality, measures to implement population work, and state management of population. Certain prohibited acts are specified in this document.

To be specific, according to the provisions of Article 7 of the 2003 Population Ordinance, the following acts are strictly prohibited:

First, obstructing or coercing the implementation of family planning.

Second, selecting the sex of a fetus in any form.

Third, producing, trading, importing, supplying counterfeit contraceptives that do not meet quality standards, are expired, or are not yet approved for circulation.

Fourth, illegal migration and residence.

Fifth, propagating, disseminating, or providing information that contradicts population policies, good traditional ethics of the nation, negatively affecting population work and social life.

Sixth, human cloning.
