Procedures for awarding the medal "For the cause of education" in Vietnam
The content of the procedure for considering and awarding the Medal "For the cause of education" is mentioned in Decision 2344/QD-BGDDT in 2023 on publicizing internal administrative procedures among State administrative agencies under the management function of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.
The order of carrying out the procedures for considering and awarding the Medal "For the cause of education" is as follows:
Dossiers of application for consideration and award of Medals shall be sent to the Ministry of Education and Training before August 31 of each year for units considering emulation by academic year and before January 31 of each year for units that consider emulation by working year.
** Subjects carrying out the procedures for considering and awarding the Medal "For the cause of education":
- Individuals in the education industry;
- Individuals outside the education sector;
- Individuals are Vietnamese residing abroad and foreigners.

** Requirements and conditions for carrying out the procedures for considering and awarding the Medal "For the cause of education":
Medal "For the cause of education" (hereinafter referred to as Medal) is a form of commendation awarded by the Minister of Education and Training once to individuals inside and outside the education sector who are certified by the direct management agency to meet one of the following criteria:
(1) Individuals in Education
- Having worked in the Education industry for 20 years or more.
In the event that the working individual is sent to study or perform military service and then continues to work in the education sector, the time spent studying or performing military service is counted as the time working in the Education sector to consider and award the Medal.
Individuals who have had enough working time but are disciplined from the level of reprimand to less than the level of forced dismissal may only be considered for a Medal after 02 years, counting from the time of expiration of the time limit for being disciplined; Disciplinary periods are not counted in consideration for awarding Medals;
- Individuals working in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions and poor districts are entitled to enjoy policies as prescribed for regions with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions, it is 5 years earlier than the time specified at Point a of this Clause.
(2) Individuals outside of Education
- Having held a managerial position for one full term (60 months) or more, making many contributions in leading, directing, and contributing to the development of the education sector;
- Having many constructive contributions, financial and in-kind support, for the development of the Education sector, certified by the beneficiary.
(3) Individuals who are Vietnamese residing abroad and foreigners who have made active contributions to the construction and development of Vietnam's education and training cause, strengthening friendship and cooperation relationsbetween Vietnamese Education and other countries and international organizations.
