Effective from June 29, 2019, the probation period for professional titles of teachers and lecturers at public educational institutions shall be implemented in accordance with Clause 11 Article 2 of Decree 161/2018/ND-CP. To be specific:

- 12 months for recruitment into professional titles requiring a bachelor's degree.

- 09 months for recruitment into professional titles requiring an associate degree.

- 06 months for recruitment into professional titles requiring an intermediate vocational training qualification.

Moreover, the time for maternity leave under social insurance benefits, the time off due to illness of 14 days or more, the time of unpaid leave, the time of detention, temporary custody, and temporary suspension of work in accordance with the law will not be counted in the probation period.

Note: The probation policies shall not be applied to those who have had a working period with compulsory social insurance payment in accordance with the law, and are assigned to work in line with their trained profession, occupation, or the professional expertise they previously held, provided that the duration of work with compulsory social insurance payment (if interrupted, it should be accumulated) is equal to or greater than the stipulated probation period mentioned above.
