On December 28, 2017, the Ministry of Health issued Circular No. 49/2017/TT-BYT listing specific principles to be followed in telemedicine activities.
Accordingly, Circular 49 stipulates that when engaging in remote medical activities, the following principles must be adhered to:
- Remote medical services are conducted on a voluntary basis by participating parties.- The person seeking consultation decides and is responsible for the use of the consultation content from the consulting party and is also responsible for informing the consulting party of the implementation results.
At the same time, Circular 47 also stipulates general professional requirements for remote medical activities, stating that remote medical services are only to be conducted at medical facilities with functions and duties in disease prevention or medical examination and treatment facilities that are licensed to operate according to the provisions of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment and other relevant legal documents.
