Cigarettes are extremely harmful to human health, not only adversely affecting the user directly but also impacting those around them. Therefore, the law has established numerous regulations to effectively control and prevent the harm caused by this product.
To be specific, according to the provisions of Article 3 of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm 2012, the principles in the prevention and control of tobacco harm include:
First, focus on implementing measures to reduce the demand for tobacco use combined with control measures to gradually reduce the supply of tobacco.
Second, emphasize information, education, and communication measures to raise awareness about the harms of tobacco, aiming to gradually reduce the rate of tobacco use and the harms caused by tobacco.
Third, carry out intersectoral coordination, mobilize society, and engage in international cooperation in preventing and controlling tobacco harm.
Fourth, ensure everyone's right to live and work in a smoke-free environment and to be fully informed about the harms of tobacco.
Additionally, the state also strengthens and expands international cooperation in the prevention and control of tobacco harm with other countries and international organizations on the basis of equality, respect for independence, sovereignty, in accordance with the laws of each country, and international laws and practices.
The contents of international cooperation include:
- Cooperation in preventing smuggled tobacco and counterfeit tobacco;- Cooperation in banning cross-border tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship;- Cooperation in scientific research, training, financial support, and the exchange of information related to the prevention and control of tobacco harm.
